But when love triangles are done right, they can elevate a story in ways that ripple from character arcs to the plot as a whole. Plus, when a book can take the trope and twist it into even more clever territory, well, that deserves some applause. Selah has waited her whole life for a happily ever after. But George R. Martin had some other ideas for character couplings which, in hindsight, seem almost as odd.
